Chapter 139

For the next week, the guys took David's approach to find inspiration. They found that it was REALLY helpful. The night before the concert, the guys decided to have a Family Jam Night. They all gathered in the living room and had a night of music. Malachai took his usual seat at David's feet. "So, fellas, what are we starting with tonight?" David asked as he took a sip of water.

"How about 'Down with the Sickness'?" Dan asked.

"Alright, 'Down with the Sickness'", David said. "I can't think of a better way to start this shit off. Count us in, Danny."

Dan counted everyone in and Mike started the song. Brie sat next to her husband, feeling the feral drum beat that Mike was playing pulse through her. As Dan and John came in, she could still feel that pulsing beat in the center of her being. Then, when David came in with the monkey noises, there was an unsuspected echo. "Oohwa-ahahah!" She and David were stunned, but David continued the song, signaling Brie to watch the kids. When it came again, she signaled to him to watch Malachai. When the time for the monkey noise came again, David watched his oldest mimic him perfectly. "Drowning deep in my sea of loathing, Broken your servant I kneel, Will you give in to me?" David sang the song the way he would have if he were on stage in front of the masses, his eyes on his son the entire time. Malachai sang along and didn't even flinch. He did what he was supposed to do when there was a curse word, but the boy sang every word perfectly otherwise. At the end of the song, David did a double take, then said, "Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce you all to my mini me", and he pointed to Malachai.

Malachai looked at his Dad. "WHAT?"

"You heard me, Malachai. You are officially my mini me."

--------------

As they lay in bed, David had a thought that he wanted to run by Brie. He was sure she wouldn't like it, but she MIGHT give him a chance to explain himself. He looked down at her. She was so beautiful with her eyes closed, half asleep. He hated to wake her, but he needed her to give him an answer that night. "Baby", he whispered, "are you asleep?"

"Not quite", she mumbled as her eyes came open. "What's up?"

"I have a thought and I want you to hear me out before you answer." She looked up at him with a brow raised, but said nothing. "Ok, here's what I thought. You know how Malachai sang every word but the cuss words?"

"Yeah. What about it?"

"I want to take him onstage tomorrow with us. Just for one song."

She blinked at him. "You want to take our eleven year old son on stage to perform a song with you guys tomorrow? Are you insane?"

"Why yes I am, but that's beside the point."

"You know I don't like that idea, right?"

"I didn't figure you would, but it would be a really cool, and semi-educational experience for him."

She took a deep breath. "You're going to have to give me a hell of a lot better reason than that. Here are the ground rules... you can use whatever means you deem necessary, but when I make my decision, it's final."

"Ok." He captured her lips with his, and his attempt to convince her to let Malachai go on stage had begun.

--------------

"OH GOD, YES! YES, YES..." she screamed. She loved and hated that he knew everything that would turn her into butter then melt her. "OH, DAVID!"

Every scream urged him on. He knew he would get his way from the way she responded to the things he did. He didn't want to admit it out loud, but he was kinda hoping that she would let him convince her. Once, twice, three more time and that was all he could take. He'd reached his breaking point and he collapsed on top of her. After he caught his breath he said, "Say yes".

Still trembling, she pressed her lips to his, trying to catch her breath. "Yes, but ONLY if he wants to."
