Tonight was the night, Matthew thought to himself. His attorney had said that his defense wasn't going so great because he wasn't there to participate. There had been no messages from the band and he didn't expect there would be. David made it perfectly clear that the band and the Agency would have to deny any knowledge of him should he get caught, but he also knew that his sister wouldn't accept that. She probably had people working day and night on this futile case. But, there was no point. No matter what evidence they might find, it wouldn't convince this corrupt ass court that he was innocent... even though he wasn't. He had been guilty of a lot of things, and espionage and treason we up there on that list when he decided to take the assignment.
The coast was clear. One of the Resistance loyal guards, the same guy that had given him the guard schedule, had left his cell unlocked in case he decided to give it a shot tonight. He knew which guards he could trust and which ones he couldn't. The ones he couldn't would have to die.
He had his K- bar concealed under the pant leg of his green jump suit. It looked too Army for his taste, but it was what they issued him when they locked his ass up in this fucking joint unjustly. He had JUST been released from custody at the Agency when he got arrested here. What the FUCK was happening to this fucking world?
One of the Loyalists guards gave him the signal that they had set up. The coast really was clear on all sides of the building. Matthew slowly creeped from his cell. He carefully snuck down the hall, crouched low so that the lights that kept sweeping the prison didn't catch his movement and trigger that GOD AWFUL alarm. Too many had tried and failed where he would succeed. If he didn't, he woudl die trying. They'd have to kill him then, because there was no way he'd be brought back to this hell hole alive.
He reached the end of the hall and slid the key card that another Loyalist guard had fabricated for him. The door slowly swung open. Thank God it worked or that was another guard that would have to die, Loyalist or not. If the card hadn't worked, then the bastard was a traitor to the cause and deserved to die. This was Matt's thought as he snuck through the door. He pulled his K- bar from under his pant leg and concealed it against his arm. He wasn't a fucking Gunny for nothing. Hell, he left boot camp as a damn Lancy. There was a reason he'd had the career he did.
One of the Utopian guards spotted him, but Matt dispatched of him quickly. He kept that K- bar sharp for just such purposes. He stripped the body and took his weapons. He was going to need them to get out of this mess, he already knew it. He put the uniform on and left the jumpsuit laying on the ground next to the body. He didn't have the time to redress the poor fucker. He had to get to his sister and David.
Another corner, another guard to kill. That was two counts of murder that would go on his rap sheet should he be recaptured, but he didn't plan on getting captured again. He would either get out of this living hell, or die trying. There was no other way around it.
A total of five guards died before he got to the fence. The Loyalists had dug him a tunnel, saying the it was to check a leaky water line to the prison. God, these fuckers were cleaver, and the hole was deep too. He slid in and climbed out with the greatest of ease and crept off into the night.

When morning rolled around, Brie and David were laying in bed. David was doing his favorite task of watching his beautiful pregnant wife sleep. Something about the first part of the second trimester always did that to her, he had no idea why.
"David, are you awake?" Mike whispered from outside the door.
"Yeah, Mikey, come on in."
Mike opened the door. "I have news on Matt."
"Should I wake Brie?"
"Yeah, you probably should. She'll want to hear this too."
David woke her gently. "Brie, baby, wake up for a moment. Mike has news on your brother."
Brie opened her eyes slowly and smiled when she saw David's face. "Hey," she whispered.
"Hey. Good morning beautiful. Mikey's got some news on your brother."
Brie pushed up on to the pillows. "What's going on, Mikey?"
"Matt's escaped. He has two full scale man hunts looking for his ass. Apparently, he killed five of the guards at the prison he was being held in while making his great escape. They want to add murder to his charges if they catch him again."
