Chapter 201

That night after dinner, Dan and the other guys get their instruments out as David warmed up his voice.  When everyone was settled in the living room, Mike and Dan gave each other a shit eating grin, then looked at David.  "We think that the entire Draiman FAMILY should give us the honor of a song", Mike said

David rolled his eyes- a rarity for him.  "You monkeys want all of us to sing something.  Am I understanding you right?"

They nodded.  "It would be cool to see what kind of talent lies in those genes", Dan said with a chuckle.

David looked at his wife.  She shrugged.  "What could it hurt?"

He nodded.  "Ok, Draiman family huddle", he said and motioned his kids to gather around him and their mother.  When the kids surrounded them, he whispered, "What should we sing, you guys?  We have to blow Uncle Mikey and Uncle Danny out of their seats."

"How about 'The Curse'?" Malachai suggested.

David shook his head.  "No, it's a good suggestion, 'Chai, don't get me wrong."

"I think we should do, 'Innocence'", Jordan said.

"I agree with my twin sister", Jacob said

"Anyone else agree with Jordan and Jacob?", Brie asked.  All the kids nodded.

"'Innocence' it is.  Jordan, since it was your idea, you tell Uncle Danny," David said.  She nodded and turned toward Danny.  When she walked up to him, David leaned into Brie.  "I think, seeing as it was the twin's idea, they should lead it.  What do you say?"

"I like it.  Put a little bit of a spot light on Jacob and Jordan.  They'll like that", she smiled and kissed him.  "It's a great idea, hon.

He smiled and kissed her back.  "I'm glad you approve."

When Jordan came back to her family, she grinned.  "He said he'd give us a few minutes to discuss how the song will be broken down, but not too much longer than that.  He's trying to screw us up", she said.

"Like that will happen", Maddie and Jacob said in unison.  Jacob took over from there.  "We're Draiman's.  No way Uncle Dan is going to mess us up."

"That's right, because your mother and I have already decided how it's going to be broken down", David told his three middle children.  "Jordan, how do you feel about taking the lead on this, you and Jacob?"

Her eyes widened.  "Really, Dad?  That's awesome!  I want the second verse though."

"That's cool with me", Jacob said, "'cause I want the first verse."  He looked at his parents.  "Why don't you and Mom take the bridge?"

David shook his head.  "Nope.  The rest of us are just background.  This song is all you and your twin sister."

Their jaws dropped.  "This is too cool, Jord," Jacob said.

"I know, Jake.  This is the coolest EVER!"

--------------

"Who is innocent?  No one is innocent  Who is innocent?  Presumed innocent, Justice fails again in the masquerade, A battered woman trembling, Her lover drunk again, When will the torture end in her web of shame?  Is death the only way?  A child victimized, The crime politicized for the counselor's gain, The rabid media congregates, His tortured memories, A pervert's fantasies, Is the while world insane?  The parasitic devastation seen one your TV screen!"  Jordan belted out the verse she'd chosen, much to the amazement of everyone but her parents.  Everyone had been equally surprised at Jacob when he sang his part and sounded every bit like David as Malachai did.  David and Brie did nothing but smile as they listened, then the rest of the children joined in on the chorus.

Jacob started growling, "False defender, Burn forever, False defender, Burn forever", then Jordan joined in melodically, "Cold and spineless, Have you no soul?  Wicked mined, Out of control and guided by their hunger, They will find new ways to betray us!"  Then the whole family joined in, "Your corruption is like a cancer growing inside, You owe the world an apology!  You've been taught all your life that truth is easy to hide, you face your judgment another day, and suffer eternally."

Everyone but Jacob and Jordan stopped singing.  "Who is innocent?  Is it relevant in the world today?  I shake my head in disbelief.  Presumed innocent, Justice fails again in the masquerade, Has the whole world become insane?"

The entire room erupted into applause.   Jacob and Jordan took their bows and made sure to acknowledge their family.  "You guys ROCK!" Maya said.

"Leave it to Uncle David to have a house full of SINGERS!" Logan said.

That night after everyone went to bed, David and Brie laid in their bed totally wound up.  Brie glanced up at David from where her head laid on his chest.  He had his eyes closed and he had one arm behind his head, but that didn't mean that he was asleep.  "Baby, you awake?"

"Mmhmm", he said with a nod.  "I can't sleep right now.  I'm too wound up."

"I'm wound tighter than a Swiss watch.  I'm not sleeping right now."

He laughed at her analogy.  "That's accurate."

She tilted her head up to look at him.  "So, what do you suggest we do to burn off all this energy so that we can get some sleep?"

He grinned.  "I have a couple of ideas, but one would require us getting out of bed and getting dressed."

"Bad idea, that's what that is.  What's another one?"

He lifted his head, bringing her face up to meet his lips.  She swung a leg over his waist and slid on top of him, grinding against him.  He broke the kiss enough to ask, "So you like this idea?"

"I do.  I like it a lot."
