Chapter 232

It took all of an hour for the guys to get the monologue ready for distribution.  The gophers were there in no time at all; ready to start running the recording where it needed to do.  They’d gotten orders from the Director as to where each of the disks were to go and they headed out after they were given their allotment.  “We’ll have the weekly grocery delivery here as soon as we can, Mr. Dan”, a little girl said.

“I know, Katya.  Don’t worry about it.  We have plenty of food for the moment”, he said.

“Well, I won’t be here for a couple of days.  I’m going to Washington to deliver a copy to the Lieutenant personally, Mr. Dan.”

David overheard what the girl had said.  “You’re taking one to the Lieutenant himself, Katya?”

“Yes, Mr. David.  That’s on the Director’s orders.”

“Make sure he knows who it’s from, Katya.  That’s all I ask.  Just make sure that bastard knows who it’s from.”

She smiled brightly at David.  “Of course, Mr. David.  What else did you think I was going to do?”

After the gophers were dispatched with their copies of the monologue, Dan put the last remaining copy of the monologue into the DVD player for the women to watch.  Brie was curled up on the couch next to David with her arms laced through one of his and her head on his shoulder as the DVD played.  As David laid into the Utopians verbally, it was all she could do to contain herself.  When he cut the feed, she let it all loose.  THAT’S MY HUSBAND!  THAT’S MY MAN!  GET ‘EM BABY!  TELL THOSE BASTARDS WHAT IT IS!  I HOPE THEY LISTEN TOO.  I CAN’T WAIT TO GET MY HANDS ON THOSE MOTHER FUCKERS!...”

“Brie, baby, calm down, shit”, David laughed.  “I know you can’t wait to get your hands on those bastards, neither can I.”

Malachai came out from his room.  “Mom, are you okay?  Does Dad need to call and have you committed to an Asylum?  I think you’ve lost your mind.”

She laughed.  “No, son, I’m fine.  I was just excited over what your Dad said in his monologue.  I’m fine now.”

Malachai eyed his mom carefully then headed back to his room.  “If you say so, Mom”, he called over his shoulder.

She laughed and looked at David.  “Did I really sound like I was crazy there for a second?”  He nodded.  She laughed and laid her head on his shoulder.  “I’m sorry, I was just really riled up after that monologue.  It was so fucking inspiring.”

He kissed her hair.  “I know, baby.  And I know you can’t wait to show those Utopian fucks who’s boss.  Neither can I.”

She sat on the plane as stared out the window as she waited on the plane to take off.  She had a very important task ahead of her.  This was going to be her only break between take off in Denver and touchdown in Washington D.C.  She was going to take the little bit of time she had to sleep.

“Ladies and gentlemen, this is your Captain speaking.  We’re about to depart Denver International Airport
and fly to Washington DC.  We’ll be departing in fifteen minutes into clear and friendly skies.  Please remember to keep your personal belongings out of the isles.   Please fasten your seatbelts and we’ll be departing soon.”

The girl moved the simple black currier bag that she carried out of the walk way then made sure that her seatbelt was fastened.  When the flight attendant came by and asked her if she wanted a drink or something, she simply asked for water, a pillow, and a blanket.  She was tired and wanted to make sure she got enough sleep in order to deliver her parcel and message.  One of the people she worked for asked her to be SURE that the recipient of that know who the parcel was from, and she intended to do just that.  She already knew what she was going to say to the person she handed the package off to.  She hoped that the person she made contact with was the recipient himself.

When the flight attendant brought her the things she asked for, she took a long drink of the water, placed the small pillow under her head, wrapped the blanket around her and went to sleep.  In her dreams she saw exactly what she was going to do.  She knew just what she would say to make sure that the man who her package was intended for got the message.  She hoped that the people she was giving this to would take the message seriously.  I  hope that the Utopians take what David said seriously, because he’s wasn’t joking, she thought as she drifted deeper and deeper into sleep.
